Fromage frais is a dairy product of primarily French and Belgium origin. It differs from fromage blanc in that it is an unripened cheese that has undergone lactic fermentation.

Fromage frais is soft and creamy and is  made with whole or skimmed milk and cream. It is like cream cheese, but with less fat.

 

It can be served as a yogurt, often with added fruit, and it can be used in savory dishes. In restaurants it is often served with honey.
